Safe Redbirds is the official safety application of Illinois State University. It is the sole application that seamlessly integrates with ISU's safety and security frameworks. Collaboratively developed by ISU Police and Emergency Management, this distinctive application offers students, faculty, staff, and visitors an additional layer of security on the Illinois State University campus. The application delivers vital safety notifications and grants immediate access to campus safety resources.

The features of Safe Redbirds comprise:

• Emergency Numbers: Access the appropriate services for the Illinois State University locale in case of an emergency or non-emergency concern.
• Emergency Guides: Campus emergency resources providing instructions for varied emergency scenarios. Guides are accessible in text and video formats; while text guides can be accessed offline, video clips require an internet connection.
• Virtual Blue Light: Corresponding to the physical emergency blue light phones across campus, this function enables users to communicate with an ISU Police dispatcher while sharing their real-time location. This feature is exclusively available on or near campus.
• Redbird Safe Walk: Request a campus representative from ISU Police to escort you around campus.
• Virtual Safe Walk: Permit an ISU Police dispatcher to track your movement for added security while traversing campus or its vicinity.
• Friend Walk: Share your location with a friend via email or SMS for real-time monitoring until you reach your destination without the need for the Safe Redbird app.
• Tip Reporting: Diverse channels for reporting safety and security issues directly to ISU Police and other pertinent offices on campus.

The application also offers a comprehensive Safety Toolbox, equipped with various tools for enhanced safety within a single, user-friendly interface.

  • Evacuation Assembly Areas: Interactive map marking pre-assigned emergency evacuation gathering spots.
  • Blue Light Phones: Interactive map featuring all physical blue light phones on campus.
• Pawfficer Sage Page: Pawfficer Sage now has her dedicated page in the Safe Redbirds App, offering insights about her and a form to request Sage and the University Police Community Engagement Unit for events.
• Alerts, Crime Advisories, and Community Updates: Understand the distinctions between ISU Emergency Alerts, Crime Advisories, and Community Updates while accessing a log of notifications received through the application.
